Fire Prevention Tips
Fire prevention week is October 7-13 this year. This year’s campaign is, “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.” This week is to educate everyone on the three basic steps to reduce house fires. Take these tips into your home to keep you and your family prepared and safe. Being prepared for a fire will help keep you and your family calmer if one occurs.
Look: Walk around your home to see if there are any potential fire hazards. Examples being clothes or blankets to close to space heaters, full dryer vents, too many cords plugged into one outlet, etc.
Listen: Make sure all your smoke alarms are working and replace batteries if you have not done so this year.
Learn: Put together an emergency exit route in place. Find all the quickest and safest exit possibilities. Make a designated meeting area outside your home for the family to meet.
Fire fact: The U.S fire departments are called to an average of 1 house fire every 86 seconds!
